We believe in project based learning as a way to immediately engage the students with instant gratification of a finished product. These classes are completely free and open to any individuals 18+.

Joinery Course

 

This course covers the basics of joinery. How to measure, chisel and connect joints properly. Through building a hinged box, picture frame and a table, the students learn a butt joint, bridle joint, mortise and tenon, and finger joints. These are the basic joints needed to make any product and a great start for an interested carpenter.

Introductory Metal Work 

 

This course covers the basic safety practices as well as beginning methods used to work with metal. Our teacher covers the correct ways to cut, bend, grind and weld while the students make a knife, wall mounted coat rack, small table, and finally a stool.

Basics of Technical Drawing

 

Technical drawing is an important skill for any designer and builder. Learning how to take your ideas and put them on paper for anyone to build from means fewer mistakes while building and a clear idea of the materials needed for a product. This class teaches the basics of technical drawing allowing the students to begin to understand how to read an exploded drawing as well as make one.
